I meet with a Grade 4 boy who lives with his grandparents because his parents have drug issues and so are unable to care for him adequately. He has trouble with anger, which he exhibited towards both his grandparents and in the classroom.

He decided to come and talk with me about his anger. As part of our meeting together, I gave him some ways to recognise where he is at on an anger level and ways to cope and calm down.

He came back over the next few weeks to say how that was going. He says that it is helping a lot.

His grandmother came to see me and was in tears telling me what he was like before our chat and what he is like now.

This has helped the student with friendships at school and learning in the classroom.
