Bethany and her two children know the value of school chaplains.

When Bethany’s battle with heart cancer began, chaplain Amelia was there to console Narelle through her fears for her mother, and support Dean in his daily struggles with an ongoing debilitating medical condition.

“Dean was born with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. It means he can’t process a lot of foods and has to be fed through a tube in his stomach. He also has chronic lung disease, which makes him immunocompromised. At times some of the boys have decided to pick on him, but chaplain Amelia and the school are really good in dealing with it,” said mum, Bethany. “Narelle would have been absolutely lost without her chaplain when I was sick. For Dean too, chaplain Amelia has been that point of difference in the school that I am so grateful for.”

When families are walking through difficulty, school chaplains are a safe and compassionate person for our young people to lean on.
